The NO FEAR Ambassadors is an “open genre” ensemble that emphasizes creating original music, arranging music relevant to students’ interests, and drawing inspiration from the rich lineage of New Orleans musicians and musical practices.

Launching in January 2025, the program is inspired by Louis Armstrong’s experiences as a U.S. State Department “Jazz Ambassador.” Both at home during the U.S. Civil Rights Movement, and on tour in Africa during the Cold War, Armstrong and his music served a social good and invited participants from diverse cultures to connect and relate to one another’s shared humanity.

What do the

Ambassadors do?

With Armstrong as our muse, the hallmark of the Ambassadors Program is for young artists to travel as a means to experience firsthand how artmaking can transform the world.

Carrying out participatory music performances, educational outreach, and community engagement everywhere they go, the Ambassadors take part in at least one international cultural exchange experience per year, with their inaugural exchange taking place throughout the San Jose Central Valley in Costa Rica in June 2025.

With Experiential Learning being applicable to all art forms and areas of arts education, by 2030, NO FEAR plans to expand the Ambassadors Program to include music, standup and improv comedy, visual and media arts, movement and dance, theater, culinary arts, and more.
